*Heart Of Gold*
Horse: Heart of Rio
Rider: Chloe Paisley
Chloe arrived early to get Rio ready for a 5 furlong run on the dirt track. Rio had been off the track since October. Lucy was planning on racing her soon. Rio was a dainty filly who loved to get dirty. Darby had spent most of the morning grooming her to perfection. She was all tacked up when Chloe entered the barn. Rio stood on crossties. Darby and Lucy were in the tack room having a talk. Chloe walked up to Rio and snuck her a peppermint from her pocket.
Lucy and Darby strolled out of the tack room, exchanging words. They saw Chloe and both smiled at her. "Sorry, we weren't here to great you." Lucy said. "It's okay. I just arrived, actually. Saw Rio here and thought I'd get to know her a little." Chloe replied. "I didn't think I would ever get this girl clean. She is a handful when it comes to grooming. She would rather be caked in mud all day." Darby added. Chloe smiled. Then, she turned her attention to Lucy. "SO what are we doing, today?" she asked. "Just a good leg stretch. You know how much I love those. Five furlongs on dirt. I feel bad that I haven't entered her in a race, yet. Was just trying to get the others going. She is a strong horse. I'm sure she won't be any problem." Lucy replied.
Chloe was mounted within five minutes and they all made their way to the dirt course. Rio pranced sideways, tilting her head and letting out a snort. Chloe held her back tightly. Rio seemed to be dancing as they pranced out onto the track. Chloe felt like she was riding a ballet dancer. Rio was an elegant mover with graceful strides. It wasn't long till Chloe gave the signal and the filly was off. She bounded down the backstretch into the turn. Once she saw the stretch ahead of her she kicked into another gear and thundered away. She crossed the wire, barely breaking a sweat. Chloe gave her a quick pat before she cooled her out and rode her back to the barns.
