*Avatar Dreaming*
Horse: Avatar
Rider: Chloe Paisley
"Gosh, he has a spectacular color. It's so different." Chloe said to Lucy as they were going to the paddock where Avatar, one of the newer residents, was in. Avatar was one of the three Lucy got from her best friend, Brie Larson, who had to put her farm, Arrowhead Stables, up for sale. Lucy gladly took in the homeless horses. She was nice like that, taking in those who weren't wanted. She didn't mind. She loved them all the same.
Avis lifted his head from a graze when they approached. He wanted to see who was coming to visit him. He stood there, not making a move. He was an amazing sight to see. His coat color was unusual, a nice bay roan. It really looked like gray splattered on bay. He was a big teddy bear. Lucy knew Chloe would be a perfect rider for him. She loved riding the sweet, laid back horses. She didn't mind it. As for Ariel and Connor, they needed mounts with some spunk.
Lucy lead Avatar out of the paddock and they lead him to the barn. Darby had her way with him. When she was done, he was finely groomed and tacked. She lead him out of the barn. Lucy gave Chloe a leg up. Chloe settled nicely into the saddle. Avis was still slightly calm. He had a ferocious side that would come out when you would least expected it. He was very unpredictable.
They all went down to the turf course. Avis was still all worked up from his last work, which was in the hands of Brie and her jockey, Ash Martin, who was assigned to ride Avis in his upcoming race, the January Maiden Dirt. Lucy was going to scratch him from it, but decided to keep him in so he could get a race under his belt. He would be one she would lightly race as a two year old. That would depend on how well he did though. If he would need more work, she would give it to him.
Avis pranced swiftly as Lucy lead them to the turf training oval. Chloe felt refreshed. She was excited to take this mega colt out onto the course. Avis was still calm. He took in all the sights and listened to the sounds of the horses whinnying in the nearby pastures. He let out a loud whinny, answering the fellow stable mates. Chloe patted his neck with a smile. She could feel the thrill arising inside her. She couldn't wait to get him out onto the track.
They reached the course. Chloe trotted Avis out onto the course. He got a little skittish. He was pulling at the bit, wanting to go. He wanted to run, again. She knew he was still wired from his recent work. Lucy just wanted to keep him on his toes. She held him steady. She wasn't going to let him have his way, yet.
The marker was approaching. She held him together. When she gave the signal, he broke out into a burst of speed. Nostrils flared, he went out with all power, dashing around the course. He thundered down the backstretch. He rushed himself, but didn't lose any breath or any strength. Chloe eased him up a little as they rounded the final turn. Once that stretch came, he flew all-out. He dashed down to the finish. When the excitement ended, he gave a small buck, getting Chloe's attention. She just laughed and patted his neck. It was such a thrilling ride. She knew he was more than ready for the race.
