*Make Way For The Diva*
Horse: Divine Demoiselle
Exercise Rider: Ariel Paisley
Ariel and Lucy made their way into the prospect barn. Diva paced from side to side in her stall. She knew what was coming. She knew she would finally have her chance to run. "She is looking so good" Ariel said. "Yes, she is. She has a lot of talent. She will make a name for herself this prospect year" Lucy added. They stood at the stall door. Diva threw her head out and bumped her nose against Ariel's shoulder. "Quite a spirited girl, as well" she said. Lucy nodded in response. Diva did it again, only this time with teeth instead of her nose. Ariel jumped out of the way at the sight of them. "well, this girl is ready to go".
Tacking the high strung filly was quite a challenge, but both ladies got her groomed, tacked, and ready to make her way out to Durango Racing's turf course. Ariel mounted when they lead her out of the barn. Diva threw her backend to the side. Lucy kept a steady hold on her. She didn't like the way the filly acted, but she dealt with it. She knew the potential she had. She knew there was a champion on the inside. The filly showed a lot of heart. She loved being out in the paddock on the sunny days. Diva had a lot to show for herself.
Lucy lead them out to the turf course. Diva sniffed at the air, lifting her head high. Ariel gathered the reins tightly. She was determined to keep a stern hold on the big filly. She knew the filly would be out of control and on her way if she made any mistakes. She felt the ball of power beneath her. It was all bunched up on the inside.
Lucy took a step back. Ariel tensed up in the saddle, ready for any of Diva's sudden moves, but the filly just stood there, taking in the view of the open turf in front of her. Ariel pressed her heels in and Diva shot out into a trot. Her stride was long and intimidating. Ariel seemed to prefer the taller horses. She handled them better than the smaller ones. Diva snorted loudly as they continued trotting around the oval. Ariel stayed quiet. The track was silent. The only noise you could hear was Diva's breathing and hooves, along with the pounding of Ariel's heartbeat.
Ariel gave a teeny bit of rein. Diva jumped into a canter. Ariel felt like she was floating on air. She relaxed a little but that was the wrong thing to do. Diva took notice and bounded off to the side, causing Ariel to almost topple out of the saddle. She gathered the reins tightly again. "Don't do that again" she said under her breath. Diva snorted and threw her head up in response. Ariel clung to a clump of her mane. She knew she had to let the filly go. She wanted to run like the wind. So she let her go.
Diva opened up like a wildfire in the forest. The ball of energy was released. She was finally able to do what she wanted. She tore around the track. Chunks of grass flew like a cape behind her. Her eyes focused ahead. Ariel tried slowing her up a little around the turn, which she didn't respond. She just pulled faster. She wanted to go. She wanted to show them what she was made of. She needed to run full force. Ariel couldn't believe the power the filly had. She noticed Lucy at the rail just shaking her head with a smile. It was a phenomenal run.
Ariel slowed Diva up. It was hard for Diva to slow up. She could run for hours, but she obeyed, knowing this time she wouldn't get her way. Ariel reached down and patted her neck. "You are a true champion. Can't wait to get you to run in a real race. I look forward to it, big girl" she said. Diva nodded her head up and down. She knew she had it all! Everyone needed to make way for the Diva!
