Horse: Ignite
Rider: Ariel Paisley
Ariel arrived at the stables early one sunny morning. She would be taking one of the new residents out onto the turf course. Ash was already tacked and on crossties when she entered the barn. She startled him, but he warmed up quickly. He nudged her shoulder and sniffed at her jacket pocket, searching for a treat. "Maybe after the run" she said. Lucy came out of the tack room. She walked up to them. "He did really well this morning. I know he will end up plowing me down as we get to the turf course. So, I will be following you guys. Just take him 7 furlongs. I will be watching from the rail." she said. Ariel nodded her head.
Lucy gave her a leg up. Then, she rode Ash out of the barn and on down to the turf course. Once it spread out before him, he immediately inched his way up to a steady canter. He was a smaller horse who was quick on his feet. Ariel found him to be a great ride. She loved how he knew what he wanted. She let him do his thing. The chill pierced her cheeks, but she felt extremely relaxed. Ash kept at a canter. His head was held high. He breathed in the morning air and stretched his legs.
The warm up went quickly. The 7 furlong marker was coming up. Ariel got ready. As soon as it came Ash jumped right into a gallop. He bolted down the backstretch. He gave it his all. Ariel hand rode him around the turn. The stretch came fast. He rushed on, pulling himself to a fast sprint. His heart poured out in every stride. He was a spectacular runner. Ariel could most definitely tell. He was a courageous runner. They darted past the wire. She patted his neck and pulled him up to a canter. She was sincerely impressed. It was a quick work, but one that would definitely give him an edge.
