*Hush Hush Baby*
Horse: Barely A Sound
Rider: Chloe Paisley
Still a maiden, Whisper was a true longshot for her next race. Lucy had her heart set on getting a good run out of the 2 year old filly. She was a big horse, who was very intimidating to her competitors. She was quick on her toes. She was built like a colt and just as strong. She had a good heart. She was a firecracker on the track. She was in the best form and ready to get a win under her belt. Lucy wanted to get her out of her maiden slump.
Chloe helped Darby get Whisper all tacked and ready to go. Lucy gave her a leg up onto the monstrous filly. Whisper just about darted out of the barn. Darby held back to walk to the dirt course with Lucy. Chloe had full control of the energetic filly. They pranced down to the track. Whisper wanted to go and get out there. She wanted to stretch her legs and fly. Chloe would let her do so. She had grown a small bond with the big horse. She considered her one of her favorites.
Once they trotted through that opening and Whisper's hooves touched the surface, she jumped into a flashy jog. Chloe settled high in the saddle. She kept her gaze between Whisper's ears. They jogged around the outside rail, getting in a good warm up. The filly obeyed when Chloe asked her up to a canter. Whisper's strides were long and loped, but that didn't matter because she was a delicate mover. Her height made no difference. She moved along just the same as the rest. She gained some more energy as they continued around the track.
Chloe stayed relaxed in the saddle. She didn't want Whisper to get any hints that she had any bit of nervousness flowing through her. The filly's muscles rippled with every movement. She looked like a pro out on the track. She acted like a perfect little lady. She was fearless and determined. She never backed down from a challenge. It was what Chloe loved about her. She knew she was an amazing horse and would prove herself for the better, one day.
The mile marker was fast approaching. Chloe gathered the reins tighter. Whisper bunched up. She knew the cues. She was ready to dart forward. She snorted loudly, begging for the signal. She was ready to fly. She was ready to run. She needed to run. She needed to give all her heart into her run. She needed to let go, now.
Chloe gave the signal and Whisper jumped into a fast gallop. She was one who hung back, mid pack. She would tease the horses in front of her, pushing into little duals around the track. She knew how to jostle the colts up. She bounded around the first turn. Chloe kept close to her neck. She wanted to be close to the filly the whole way. Her long strides carried them the distance. They thrashed down the backstretch. Whisper was going all out. She needed to be free. She needed to run her heart out.
The final turn came before Chloe knew it. She couldn't believe how rapid and agile the filly was. She just flew around the track. Once the stretch came, she didn't let up. She increased her speed a little and streaked down to the wire. She was going all out speed. The wire soon came and they flashed by it. Chloe couldn't help but give the filly a huge pat on the neck. She ran her fingers through her mane. It was an incredible run. She was happily impressed. She would most certainly put up a fight in her Unicorn Horn race.
