*She Has Style*
Horse: Luciana
Rider: Lucy McCummins
Lucy was by herself at the barn when she made her way to Ana. The filly was nestled in her stall, resting in a back corner. When Lucy reached the stall door, her ears shot forward and she raised her head with a soft nicker. "Morning beautiful." she said. Ana walked up to her and nudged her shoulder, sniffing her jacket pockets for a treat. Lucy reached in and pulled out a half an apple. She held it out and Ana snatched it diligently.
Lucy lead her out of her stall. The filly just about knocked her over. She was anxious to get out there onto the track. She calmed a little when Lucy put her on crossties. Soon she was stomping her hooves and huffing loud. She let out a whinny as Lucy returned, tack in hand. She got her groomed and tacked.
The ride to the dirt course was a boppy one. Ana was highly energized this cloudy morning. Lucy kept quiet in the saddle. She wanted to get the young filly to relax. Ana was too distracted by her surroundings. The chirping of birds caught her attention and she stopped in her tracks. Lucy rolled her eyes. Ana sniffed at the air. She wondered where the noise was coming from. She wanted to find out the culprit, but Lucy urged her on. She wanted to get her to the track so she could settle.
Once on the track, Ana bowed her head and trotted gracefully around the track. The cold wind whipped at Lucy's face. It didn't bother Ana. They made their way around. Once they reached the five furlong marker Lucy got Ana to jump into a fast breeze. She bounded down the small part of the backstretch and dashed around the turn. When the stretch came she kicked it up and thundered down the straight away. Lucy gave her all the rein she needed, but she still tugged for more. She wanted to make the most of it. She wanted to make Lucy happy.
Past the wire, Lucy pulled her to a halt. She reached down and stroked Ana's shoulder. The filly impressed her so much. She knew she would be a great champion in the future. The filly would go far on the track.
