*Special Occasion*
Horse: Special Edition
Rider: Connor Stewart
Connor was looking forward to taking the new, big chestnut stallion out onto the dirt track. Ed hadn't run since September. He was fresh for the track. Racing was what he loved to do. It had been a while since he was out and it was time for him to reclaim the fame. Lucy needed an older sprinter and that is what she got in Ed. He was a killer horse and an eye catcher for all.
Riding Ed onto the track, Connor sat high and proud in the saddle. He could feel the incredible power under him. Ed was a strong horse. He stretched his legs and bowed his head low. He relaxed instantly. The timid side hid away and the business side of him appeared. He wanted to get the job done. He bunched up quietly, holding all of his energy. His head shot up once he saw the starting gate. He let out a whinny and briefly reared with excitement. His pace seemed to quicken and they reached the gate quickly.
Ed loaded with ease. He was incredibly anxious. He glanced around, catching a glimpse of Spur who was getting ready to open the chutes. Once they opened and the bell rang Ed thundered out of that gate. It wasn't like him. He was usually a slow breaker. This time was different. He flowed down the backstretch, kicking in more speed with each stride. Connor let him go. He let him make the run. The stallion had full control.
Ed kept on. His hooves pounded around the turn as they headed into the stretch. Once it was out in front of him, all of his energy escaped and he flew down the track. Connor didn't need to do a thing. Ed had all control. He pushed himself to the finish, barely breaking a sweat. He wanted to keep going when Connor pulled him down to a trot. Connor turned him around to the outside rail. Ed didn't want to make the turn. He wanted to keep on running. He was more than ready to get back on the track.
